Performance Excellence in 2025 EV Tire Testing

Continental’s UltraContact NXT has claimed the top spot in the 2025 summer tire test for electric vehicles, conducted by a leading Polish automotive publication. This is the tire’s second major recognition of the year, reaffirming its position at the forefront of performance-driven, eco-conscious mobility solutions.

In a rigorous test involving seven tire models in the 205/55 R16 size category, the UltraContact NXT was fitted on a Nissan Leaf for real-world performance evaluation. It outperformed competitors across wet and dry road conditions, delivering superior handling, safety, and driving precision. The tire's consistent excellence under various driving scenarios underscores Continental’s ability to merge high-quality engineering with the evolving needs of modern vehicles—especially electric models.

All 19 available sizes of the UltraContact NXT achieved the highest possible "A" rating in the EU tire label’s three categories: rolling resistance, wet braking, and external noise. This triple "A" certification highlights its efficiency, quiet ride, and safe braking—qualities that are crucial for EV drivers seeking both performance and sustainability.

A Tire Built on Sustainability and Innovation

Beyond its impressive performance, the UltraContact NXT is redefining the standard for environmentally friendly tire manufacturing. It is composed of up to 65% renewable, recycled, and ISCC PLUS mass balance certified materials—an industry-leading achievement. These include renewable resins sourced from the paper and wood industries, silica derived from rice husk ash, and recycled steel and polyester sourced from PET bottles. Additionally, it incorporates sustainable synthetic rubber and carbon black produced using bio-based and circular feedstocks.

Earlier this year, the UltraContact NXT was also rated “Outstanding” in another major sustainable summer tire test, highlighting its consistent superiority in both green innovation and road safety.

As part of its long-term Vision 2030 strategy, Continental is committed to aligning performance with planet-conscious innovation. The UltraContact NXT stands as a shining example of that vision in action—offering drivers a smart, sustainable choice that delivers uncompromised results.
