Pirelli Tyres are certified for many BMW M models and engineered through a specialised development method. Milan, January 24th, 2023 - BMW M, the high-performance division of BMW, has chosen the Pirelli P Zero Elect to equip their highly anticipated electric vehicle, the BMW i4 M50. This marks a significant moment in the brand's history, as the i4 M50 is the first fully electric car to be developed by BMW M. The i4 M50 joins a list of other BMW M vehicles that Pirelli has equipped with custom-made original equipment tyres.
The BMW i4 M50 boasts two engines that power all four wheels, producing a total output of 544CV (400kW) with the ability to accelerate from 0 -100kph in a mere 3.9 seconds. This level of performance required tyre technology that could keep pace with the car's capabilities, and Pirelli stepped up to the challenge by developing the P Zero Elect tyres. These tyres have a unique Elect logo on the sidewall that sets them apart from other tyres, along with the star that identifies all BMW bespoke original equipment tyres.
The Pirelli P Zero Elect tyres were designed to meet the specific demands of electric vehicles. The tyre technology was developed to complement the characteristics of BEV or plug-in hybrid vehicles, including instant torque, increased weight from batteries, and silent travel. The tyres have a reinforced structure to support the car's weight, even during intense driving, and a high-grip compound for precise and efficient handling.
This collaboration between BMW M and Pirelli marks a new chapter in the world of high-performance electric vehicles. The BMW i4 M50 with Pirelli P Zero Elect tyres is a powerful and efficient machine that will impress both car enthusiasts and eco-conscious consumers. With the BMW M division leading the charge towards total electrification, the future looks bright for the brand and its fans."
Pirelli and BMW M have formed a dynamic partnership, combining the expertise and know-how of two renowned names in the world of performance and innovation. BMW's M division celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, bringing its wealth of motorsport experience to the roads. Likewise, Pirelli, with over 150 years of tyre-making history and over 110 years of competition experience, offers tailor-made tyres for some of the world's most iconic performance brands.
Their association has resulted in the creation of tyres that enhance the overall driving experience and sharpen vehicle dynamics. For example, the X6 M and X3 M SUVs are fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres for summer and Scorpion Winter tyres for the colder months. At the same time, the elegant 8 Series boasts P Zero tyres, and the iconic M5 CS is exclusively equipped with P Zero Corsa tyres, suitable for both track and road use.
Pirelli's expertise and attention to detail make it a perfect match for BMW M's commitment to delivering the ultimate driving experience. The partnership between these two legendary brands continues to produce tyres that push the boundaries of performance and set new standards for drivers everywhere.
Red Bull continued their 2023 winning ways, with another 1-2 finish in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, but it was Sergio Perez, not Max Verstappen, taking the winner's trophy at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
