The only tripleheader event of 2023 sees the 20 drivers entertaining the Americas. Austin is the first act ahead of a trip to Mexico next week and then Brazil at the start of November. To add to the non-stop nature of it all, the USA and Brazil will host the last two Sprint races of the season. That means you can enjoy Saturday racing for the second consecutive grand prix this weekend in the 100 km dash to the Circuit of the Americas' finish line. The championship fight may be over — but Formula One is still in full swing.

What to watch out for in the 2023 US Grand Prix

McLaren's two-pronged attack by Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris saw the Woking-based squad leave Qatar with four trophies last time out. If they can continue their upward trajectory, it's possible that they could close the gap on F1's latest triple-champion, Max Verstappen... and perhaps even beat the Red Bull driver in a fair fight. With so much recent form on their side, watching how close they run Verstappen will keep some excitement in these final few races.

If the on-track racing isn't doing it for you this year, perhaps the oppulant marketing can pull you back. Red Bull will run another one-off livery over the three days to keep an eye out for. Paying homage to the Circuit of the Americas recognisable colour scheme, this weekend's RB19 features a fan-designed look that includes the track's stars and stripes.

It's a not-too-dissimilar theme for Haas, too, with the American team running a one-off design for their home race, also featuring the five-pointed star. Finally, Williams will have another change to their look. Fresh from the three-race run of the 'Bolder than Bold' Gulf livery, the team will have NFTs on their rear wing, adding even more colour to the grid.

2023 US Grand Prix Pirelli Tyre Choices

It's one compound stop softer from Pirelli for the US Grand Prix than Qatar, and the teams can choose between the C2, C3, and C4 rubber. Thankfully, we won't see any repeat of the FIA-imposed stint length that plagued the last race after Losail's kerbs destroyed the tyre structure.

Equally, the wet weather tyres were so prominent in the season's European leg are unlikely to appear. It looks like a standard affair from Pirelli's side for a Sprint weekend: a familiar track, no chance of rain, and painted kerbs without sharp edges.

Who could win the 2023 US Grand Prix?

McLaren may be closing the gap, but Max Verstappen is still the most likely name to feature on the winner's trophy. However, Mercedes also ran the Dutch driver close in Qatar's Qualifying before Lewis Hamilton's error in hitting George Russell ruined their race. McLaren and Mercedes will hope to see more progress here in their attempts at closing the deficit to Red Bull before the season ends.

Although he's not in the race to win, previous USGP podium finisher Daniel Ricciardo returns to action after his injury. The Australian was announced as AlphaTauri's 2024 driver alongside Yuki Tsunoda earlier this month and will hope to impress amid rumours of Sergio Perez's longevity in the sport. If the Mexican does retire, something his camp vehemently denies, Ricciardo will look to be the man to partner Verstappen next year.
